Multi-Factor Authentication

At Aventa, our commitment is to provide you with a secure online environment to access your account, and to protect your personal information from unauthorized access.  With Multi-Factor Authentication, our online and mobile banking platforms requires more than one form of authentication to verify the legitimacy of a login.

Which is why if you log in to online or mobile banking using a device or browser we don’t recognize, we’ll ask you to take additional steps to authenticate your log in. This multistep process, also known as Multi-Factor Authentication, ensures that you’re the only person that can access your account, even if someone has your password.

VERIFICATION WITH TWO FORMS OF AUTHENTICATION

Your user ID and password count as one form of authentication. If you have already registered your computer, the computer serves as your second factor because it has a stored cookie file which recognizes you. If you login using a device that is not registered, a security code is generated and sent to you via text message or email.  Even if you frequently change devices, this security features is in place to provide greater protection from unauthorized activity.

Note: One of the keys to Multi-Factor Authentication is having accurate contact information for you on file at Aventa so you can authenticate your log in. If we don’t have your correct mobile number or email, you may not be able to log in to online or mobile banking.

Once you’ve successfully logged in, you won’t be prompted to authenticate your log in again on that device, unless you erase the device’s history, use a different browser or you need to change your password for security reasons.

Why implement Multi-Factor Authentication?

It’s a proactive security measure. Security experts agree that the traditional User ID and password combination has become outdated and could be a security risk. Security questions, such as “What’s your maiden name?” are becoming too “guessable” with social media and the amount of personal information available. Multi-Factor Authentication adds another layer of protection to safeguard your transactions.

How can you keep your accounts safe online?

In addition to security measures Aventa has put in place, it’s always a good idea to implement the following practices to keep your accounts safe online:

  • Change your passwords frequently
  • Avoid using unsecured public Wi-Fi spots to access your accounts
  • Don’t click on links in unsolicited emails
  • Set up account alerts to notify you of any suspicious activity on your account
